Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus

3x****
Opening "Fat Man In the Bathtub" is immediately recognizable in the shimmying rhythm of the Phish and Grateful Dead, but with more southern influence. Ooh the innuendo. The generally southern boogie lite rock sound continues until "Mercenary Territory"**** gets just a little funkier and builds to some pretty heroic soloing. "Spanish Moon" continues in a more southern jazzy direction, as does "Rocket In My Pocket". The mention of bad cocaine proves it's a 70's album if there was any doubt. Crowd-pleasin country sing-along "willin'"**** is a highlight here with the exuberant request for 'weed, whites, and wine.' "Sailin Shoes"**** brings blues that pulses as if to rock out before pulling back. "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" boogies the hell out of there, no doubt leaving the crowd wanting more.
