It sounds like Loveless, buzzsaw guitars, rubber-band-y leads, breathy vocals, and all. But there isn't much to distinguish the songs until "If I Am", which explores the more gauzy and harmonically layered song elements of MBV. The bubbly "New You"**** features a beautiful layering of tremolo-driven guitar, pulsing bass, and keyboard melody, while "In Another Way"**** combines the all the noisy elements of "Only Shallow" over a loud, tribal drum loop. The clunkers are represented by "Is This and Yes", a nearly-wordless lullaby of random chords, "Nothing Is", about 8 seconds of satisfying industrial rock repeated over 3:30, and a kernel of a song buried by a mishmash of noise to close the album with "Wonder 2".
