Black Flag - Damaged

3x***** 6x****
Loved and hated, the first album with Henry Rollins kicks off powerfully with anthemic "Rise Above"*****. "what I See" is ambitious for a tortured teenager, but hilarious "TV Party"***** sums up the masses that watch way too much TV (such as myself)."Six Pack"**** and "Thirsty And Miserable"**** amusing rants against drunken stupidity. "Gimme Gimme Gimme"**** is good here, though the Dez (?) version is better and doesn't sound disjointed and pasted together. "Room 13"***** is the best of the raging against the world songs for some amazing alternately growling and wailing guitar, though the guitars also steal the show in the instrumental breaks of "Life Of Pain"****. Closer "Damaged I"**** does a pretty good job of depicting the brain finally coming undone as the band bashes away relentlessly.
