4x****
Starting with "Short Lip Fuser", Circa Now starts out playing like Nirvana played twangier, or Jawbox. "Hippy Dippy Do" also sounds of contemporary pop punk, while "Ditchdigger" brings a bombastic, anthemic chorus. "Don't Darlene" and "Killy Kill" finally reach the hardcore tempo, but at the expense of hooks. "Hairball Alley"**** finally sets the stride with a major fist-pumping riff, and singsong-y "Sturdy Wrist"****, after which the album is consistently rocking, from radio-friendly "March of Dimes"****, through the anthemic take that coda of "Glazed"**** (interrupted by the oddly-produced swingy "Little Arm"). Bonus "Lambs For Sale" sounds like a demo for "Dollar".
