5 & 6 kicks off with an earlier version of "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire," sung by Mario Lalli (re-recorded for the QOTSA album Songs For The Deaf three years later). But some of the best tracks were based on material contributed by outside "poets." Stoner rocker "A1"**** (apparently submitted by someone from Australia and sung by Josh Homme) and the frantic "Rickshaw"**** (from a girl in Florida) would have sounded great on QOTSA's debut album. The somewhat poorly played "Goin To A Hangin'"**** (from some guy in Joshua Tree, CA) hearkens back to the days when witnessing this capital punishment was family fun and charmingly pleas "Oh, honey please, won't you come." With jokey guitar riffs and hilarious space alien harmonies "Take Me To Your Leader"**** makes it clear that the work in general shouldn't be taken too seriously. With that in mind I still cringe at "Letters To Mommy," (supposedly submitted by someone in California) sniveling-ly sung from the point of view of an abused child and with ray-gun synthesizer (by Homme) standing in for an angel choir; fine line between silly and horrifying. "Punk Rock Caveman Living in a Prehistoric Age" is also ugly and nonsensical though that's probably deliberate. "I'm Dead" is energetic but otherwise unremarkable, and "Like A Drug," another later re-recorded track (issued as bonus on some versions of Lullabies to Paralyze) is a subdued but generic Mexican tango.
