The 2014 album by Greg, his old band's bass player, and some other guys is great in spots but uneven. The combination of the Ronettes' Be My Baby drumbeat with a sad Spanish ballad in "Algiers"**** is pretty and inspired, and the scratchy, popping main riff in single "Matamoros"**** is one of his best. Elsewhere, "Royal Cream" and opener "Parked Outside" recall the Afghan Whigs' grungy heaviness, especially the breakdown riff of the former, while "The Lottery"**** recalls Dulli's interesting interpretation of 70' blaxploitation on Black Love, with a surprisingly atmospheric chorus. Others, such as "It Kills", "Lost In The Woods", "Can Rova", and "I Am Fire" are more restrained like Twilight Singers album tracks; they are multi-layered and moodily evocative, making good background music while seeming a bit flat and unfinished to be memorable. Closer "These Sticks" stands out a bit more, but for the wrong reason - a very very similar riff was already recorded by Radiohead in "Street Spirit", a million times better song.
