Not the greatest collection of recorded music, but that's probably not the point. "The Gosso King Of Crater Lake", "Hog Leg", and "You Keep On Talking" all sound like "Bron-Yr-Awr Stomp" or "Finish What You Started" fronted by Cookie Monster, making this seem a less than serious entry into the series. That's 3 of 10 down, and 3 more are available elsewhere. "Nova" and "Avon" are two different versions of a song that would end up on the Queens of the Stone Age" debut, and the messy "Monster In The Parasol" would end up on Rated R. The faithful cover of The Groundhogs' "Eccentric Man" is passable but unnecessary. Of the remaining tracks, the minimal instrumentation and tremolo guitar of "At The Helm Off Hells Ships" can only be described as the sound of a snake crawling through the desert, and "Sugar Rush" is a space-y stoner stomp. That brings us to the face-melting "Jr. High Love"****, unsurprisingly fronted by Nick Oliveri. It's short, silly (first line is "there's a party in your mouth and yeah I wanna come"), gleefully misogynist , and it hauls ass. Leave all sensitivity at the door.
