Spiritualized - Amazing Grace

Tracks like "This Little Life Of Mine", "She Kissed Me (It Felt Like A Hit)", "Never Goin' Back" are rock and catchy enough in the Oasis vein, and "Hold On" has that national anthem, "Auld Lang Syne" stateliness, but "Oh Baby"**** is the first to have the spaciousness of Ladies And Gentlemen or Laser Guided Melodies, with a magnificent space keyboard outro. The core of the album follows soon after with jazzy dirge "The Power And The Glory"**** leading into gospel anthem "Lord Let It Rain On Me". God issues are nothing new, and the latter sounds more defiant than anything, but it's tied together with the the gospel style with the resigned chorus "I'll sell my soul to let it roll and I'm about ready now". "Cheapster"**** throws back to the opening brit pop tracks, but is also a fitting homage to MC5, with the most energetic track. "Rated X" and  "Lay It Down" are appropriately somber for closers, though the latter is just a less-awesome "Oh Baby", much like the album is kind of a winding down after the impressive Ladies And Gentlemen and Let It Come Down.
