Mass Shivers handles the Fugazi brand of angular punk as well as anyone, on the punchy "Crank The Plan" and charmingly gawky "This Is Language"****, clinically exploring the mystery of symbols and sounds becoming something greater. "Swelling"**** is more about a slow build from melodic guitar lines to dueling drones and melodies, all over propulsive tribal drums. There is no downer here as each song has interesting riffs and skillful use of dynamic and layers. Though the details are sometimes lost in the complexity, the quick turnarounds in dynamic and feel are memorable and serve as anchors in the chaotic sea.
