Seam - The Problem With Me

"Rafeal"**** more or less sets the tone with the combination of the meaty rhythm section, the balance of clean and distorted guitars, and heart-ed sleeves that characterized the great indie emo of the 90's. The middle section of the album is the best, with the desperate wall of sound in "Sweet Pea"****, the "don't tell me what to do" coda of "Dust & Turpentine"****, and the swooning My Bloody Valentine chords in the chorus of "Something's Burning"****. "The Wild Cat" gets amateurish in the "I've got my thing for you" sections, but the rest of the album is at least solidly listenable, and the closing "Autopilot" is a pleasant enough little loop-driven moment of zen.
