3x****
"Retread" is a good start with a rather dramatic progression building to emotive chorus. "Trial Error" continues the same general tone. "Somnolent Detachment" slows significantly and unfortunately doesn't get going until the song is almost over. "Intent To Pacify"**** is the most melodic song yet, with the vocal and guitar melody lines playing perfectly off each other. "Patent On The Better" ends the first half with a pretty piano piece. "Worth"**** moves skillfully between the angular hook and groovy verses, though the bridge meanders a bit, and "In Favor"**** has a driving chromatic verse progression but has the same problem. Like the first half, the album itself ends with the dramatic piano solo title song.
