Radiohead - In Rainbows

1x***** 4x****
Similar to Kid A, In Rainbows starts at a slow simmer with "15 Step"****, which restrains all instrumentation except percussion for almost a minute. "Bodysnatchers"*****, on the other hand leads off with Thom's booming riff, which sets loose the storm. "Nude" takes the form of a jazzy ballad, and "Faust Arp" is almost folky, while "All I Need" is mostly driven by its slow, electronic bass line until the thundering piano leads to its noisy conclusion. "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" finds Thom floating of cascading arpeggios, similar to "Scatterbrain". "Reckoner"**** is similar but kicks off with the cavernous drums before an affecting melody and arpeggio combination takes over, interrupted by a string-filled bridge. "House Of Cards"**** sets a mellow, fingered groove as the foundation of Thom's echoing vocals. "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is similar to Bodysnatchers, but at b-side quality. But the sorrowful "Videotape"**** is a fitting somber Radiohead closing track in the tradition on "Street Spirit"
