It's one of those things that makes sense if you stand back a bit from it. The whole is a powerful mess of super-overdriven bass and angry bellows. But in the midst of the din some bright moments emerge. Opener "Way Of The World"**** opens in shambolic fashion (hello?), but the tale of woe pummels its oddly metered progression home, though the heaviest pummeling is the relentlessly accelerating "Life"****. "Ha Ha Ha"**** is ridiculous fun. The speed-barking of the vocal in "In Life My Friend"**** ups the ante on the rage. "If I Can't Be Drunk", which may be the ugliest song here (I don't want to be alive) drags its way most convincingly. Closer "Ice Cold Beer"**** is a close runner-up, including the taunt "fight, that's it, get violent, let's be stupid and fight, that's a good idea." Must have been one 'elluva show.
