Pink Floyd - UmmaGumma (Studio Album)

4x****
Part I **** of Rick Wright's "Sysyphus" presents a spooky grand theme on organ and mellotron, suitable for use in a old Dracula picture, which give way to a piano solo which gradually decends into chaos (Part II). Part III is tinkering with noise, while Part IV has several atmospheric parts which ends again with the grand theme. Roger Waters' contributions are the very quiet, very pastoral, and very long "Grantchester Meadows" and an experiment with vocals and and studio tricks on "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals". David Gilmour's "The Narrow Way" is the most consistent and tuneful contribution. Part I**** is acoustic guitar that could have been played by Jimmy Page. Part II**** is a dark and muddy recording of a dark and muddy guitar melody, giving the song a cavernous quality. Part III**** is the track most closely recognized as a song, which could fit nicely on to 'Meddle'. Nick Mason's "The Grand Vizer's Garden" is mostly playing with looping percussion sounds bookended by flute duets. One listen is sufficient.
