Yeah Yeah Yeahs - s/t

Probably more noteworthy for sounding exactly like a New York noise rock band from 1979 than for great songs, their straightforward garage rock approach to the sound does pay off somewhat. While "Bang" is a lackluster lead-off, with an angular riff that doesn't go anywhere, "Mystery Girl" is much better, with some slides down the fretboard that sound really cool and 60's, though still not a great song. The reason for the screaming on "Art Star" isn't clear, and it sounds like the band is just trying stuff out. "Miles Away" is a not too noteworthy punk song, with come cool guitar noise thrown in and an unexpected breakdown. The best part of the closing "Our Time" is the beginning, where the spaces between lines allow room for some cool sounds and vocals, but it becomes less interesting after that.
