The opening "Mescaline Eyes" starts remarkably like Soundgarden, with its spidery Sabbath riffs, but as played by Fugazi. On "Subtle Body" a unique sound emerges, of guitar-produced keyboard-like lines that fade and slide over the funky hardcore rhythm section. "Child Chicken Play"**** is alternately chiming and bludgeoning over a minor key motif. "Abracadabra" has emo elements as well as elements of ...Trail of Dead, with with more of the sliding octaves motif. "Deer Lodge" is an avalanche of notes, like a pattern generated by synth, alternated with more typical Fugazi parts. "Perpetual Bris"**** is the first true respite from the onslaught of riffs, with an elegiac reed organ (or accordion) theme. This introduction culminates in "Corporeal"****, which incorporates organ and the same themes on slide guitar as the song winds down. The Closing "Crazy Woman Dirty Train"**** starts with a very dirty riff and is a strong ending.
