Starts off strong with the alternative hit "In The Meantime"****, but this 13 song album has more stinkers than keepers. The rule seems to be when space is in the title, it's short, fast, and stupid, "Spacehog" and "Space Is The Place". "Candyman" wants to be another big single, but is no ..Meantime. "Cruel To Be Kind" could have been by J Geils Band, or any 80's pop rock band. "Starside" mines the David Bowie vein, but leaves little room for originality or melody, "Shipwrecked" is a bad power ballad, except for a great ending that comes much too late. "Only A Few" is spacey like the verses of "In The Meantime" but doesn't break out and seems to think it's too clever. "The Last Dictator" is a total Urge Overkill copy. "Never Coming Down" was probably a favorite of the regulars, but only has a catchy melody that gets old fast. "Zeroes"**** masters the soft/loud/soft/loud, which sounds overused but is effective with such a kick-ass chorus. "To Be A Millionaire"***(*) is cute, but if you're not careful you'll find yourself listening to the useless hidden track. Damn the 90's and their hidden tracks. Stupid stupid stupid.
