Coheed And Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star

1x****
After a superfluous orchestral introduction (o god, is that where this is going), and a sleepy "Always & Never", "Welcome Home"**** explodes out of your speakers with a completely and enormously silly riff like a kid practicing his scales. Someone has been listening to Iron Maiden and/or Queensryche. "Ten Speed" is more fast-rock, but has some decent guitar playing. "Apollo I" is one of the hookier songs on the album, with a catchy chorus and wo-o's. "Wake Up" is some sappy American Idol slow pop. The next few are standard mall punk. "Fuel For The Feeding" is especially unremarkable with no real hook or melody. "Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" is better, the first part is not typical emo, and the bridge again is suggestive of Iron Maiden; just not the good part. "Apollo II", same as "Apollo I". The obviously named "The Final Cut" is actually some whankeriffic slow rock, with a mid-70's Pink Floyd mid-section, and some 'Riders On The Storm' keyboards into the end.
