Seam - Are You Driving Me Crazy?

3x****
For the most part a thoroughly good-sounding indie/emo record, similar to Promise Ring and Superchunk except more mid-tempo with much more subdued singing. "Berlitz" and "Haloe Redux" are the best examples of this comparison, though the former is better and is a great start. "Hey Latasha" fits in the same category. The ballad "Port of Charleston" goes surprisingly toward a southern rock sound. The earnest "Broken Bones" is probably the most grunge, and "sometimes I forget" is similarly mopey. The album ends with the rocking Replacements-like "Petty Thievery".
