'Dance Tonight' is just a great sounding song that sticks to the side of your brain immediately. Thank god those ads are gone. 'House of Wax' is a big strange dramatic song. 'Nod Your Head' is a complete surprise with the noise guitar, and rocking. Half the album is pleasant pop like you'd expect from Paul, but that's not necessarily good. 'Mr. Bellamy' is just cutesy, irritating and overdone (see Admiral Halsey), as Mr MBE often does. 'Vintage Clothes' sounds very modern but is too slight to make much of an impression, and kinda obvious. The introspection works on 'Ever Present Past', but depressing on 'The End..', though heartfelt and trying hard to be cheery about songs that were sung. Some great tunes on this record, but I'd hate to work at Starbucks the day it came out. The ear would be loaded into the milk steamer after the 4th playing of 'Gratitude'.
