Grinderman S/T

1x*****, 4x****
Layers of extremely loud drums, keyboards, and drums create controlled chaos for this Nick Cave record, which is best described as raunchy. "Get It On" starts immediately with the loudest blues you've ever heard. "No Pussy Blues" continues in the same vein with a funny monologue about jumping though hoops to obtain, you get the idea. "Honey Bee" induces head-banging with a mess of keyboards and guitars". Some less interesting songs are loungy and closer to typical Nick Cave, such as the monotonous "Don't Tell The Woman" and the boring "I Don't Need You To Set Me Free". "Electric Alice" is probably the strangest song with dueling figures of guitars and keyboards, and the grunge award goes to the title song, with a Soundgarden-like low, muted guitar line. "When My Love Comes Down" is creepy with swirling guitars like the winds preceeding an apocalyptic storm. The record ending "Love Bomb" rocks again with frantic and squawking guitars.
